Review. 

I chose this book because it scores very well on goodreads, it is a reasonable length for a medium grade, and the cover is beautiful. However, although it has all the elements that I like, it did not convince me. 

The plot is a bit boring, not because it is bad, but because it is very cliché and the plot twists are quite evident. If you are a child you can probably enjoy reading, but as an adult who likes middle grade I am not satisfied. 

The narrative is fine, I liked that it was simple, but beautiful and above all, that it was very quickly, however, I would have preferred it to be a little more subtle, because sometimes all the facts were very “in your face”. 

The characters were good, but I think they lacked a lot of development, because their personalities were very simple. Again, I don't think this affects the reading of a child with little experience as a reader too much, but as an adult it is evident. 

The book takes too many elements from other famous literary sagas and although at a certain point the references can be funny, in the long run it will make reading tired. I don't think it's a terribly bad book, but it hasn't been the best read of the month either, in fact I finished it almost immediately and it has several elements that denote a great imagination, such as the creatures that actually seemed quite original to me and the world building, which is undoubtedly one of the most interesting details in the story, but I get the feeling that the author's lack of experience affected the book quite a bit. However, it is also a author with a lot of potential that is sure to improve with time.

Reseña. 

Escogí este libro porque tiene muy buena puntuación en goodreads, es de una longitud razonable para ser un middle grade y la portada es hermosa. Sin embargo, aunque tiene todos los elementos que me gustan, no terminó de convencerme.  

La trama es un poco aburrida, no porque sea mala, sino porque está muy vista y los plot twist son bastante evidentes. Si eres un niño probablemente puedas disfrutar la lectura, pero como una adulta que le gustan los middle grade no estoy satisfecha.  

La narrativa está bien, me gustó que fuera simple, pero bonita y sobre todo, que sea muy ágil, sin embargo, hubiese preferido que fuera un poco más sútil, porque a veces todos los hechos eran muy “en tu cara”.
Los personajes estaban bien, pero creo que les faltó bastante desarrollo, pues sus personalidades eran muy simples. De nuevo, no creo que esto afecte demasiado la lectura de un niño con poca experiencia como lector, pero como adulto es evidente.  

El libro toma demasiados elementos de otras sagas literarias famosas y aunque en cierto punto las referencias pueden ser divertidas, a la larga vuelven cansada la lectura. No me parece que sea un libro terriblemente malo, pero tampoco ha sido la mejor lectura del mes, de hecho me lo acabé casi enseguida y tiene varios elementos que denotan una gran imaginación, como las criaturas que de hecho me parecieron bastante originales y la creación de mundos, que sin duda es uno de los detalles más interesantes de la historia, pero me da la sensación de que ña falta de experiencia de la autora afectó bastante eñ libro. Sin embargo, también es una historia con mucho potencial que seguramente mejorará con el tiempo.
Mi calificación es un 3/5.
